Non-Profit Rotation Program, BridgeYear

BridgeYear is seeking 6 inaugural Program Fellows for the launch of the Non-Profit Rotation Program. Join a dynamic startup team as we grow nationally in the 2020-2021 school year while growing professionally as an emerging non-profit leader.

 

Participation in the Non-Profit Rotation Program is comprised of three components:

Career Test Drive Fairs (50%); Cohort Rotation (40% of time) Participation in at least three 12-16 week non-profit rotations across seven organizational departments including but not limited to: Development, Operations, People and Culture, Communications/Marketing and Programming; Capacity Building and Training (10% of time).

Resume and cover letter required. Interviews will be scheduled and conducted on a rolling basis with the following two deadlines:

Priority Deadline: February 2, 2020 (Notification by March 16, 2020)

General Deadline: March 1, 2020 (Notification by April 13, 2020)

Breakthrough Teaching Fellow

The Breakthrough teaching fellow experience is designed for undergraduates of all majors and for those who intend to pursue careers in education, as well as those who haven’t yet considered it.  Education coursework is not a prerequisite.

 

We seek applicants with a deep interest in social justice and a passion for working with students. Our teaching fellows must be committed to personal growth and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Because we celebrate the diversity of our community, we seek undergraduate applicants from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.  Teaching fellows have the opportunity to practice skills that prepare them for the classroom or other professional settings, including:

​

  • Learn lesson planning, classroom management, instructional strategies, feedback techniques, and other essential learning tools

  • Receive regular coaching from professional educators

  • Teach core academic classes (math, science, writing, literature) and elective classes (e.g., foreign language, dance, art)

  • Collaborate with colleagues in a challenging, fun, and supportive environment

  • Work with a diverse group of highly motivated students, staff, and teachers

CAFÉCOLLEGE HOUSTON GRAD ADVISOR

The GRAD Advisor is an essential member of the Project GRAD team who advises students and families at GRAD’s cafécollege Houston at Carnegie Neighborhood Library and who administers components of the GRAD Scholar Program and the Aspiring Young Adults Program.

​

One year of relevant work experience required. Advisers will provide high-quality college and career advising to Houston’s students and families through cafécollege Houston. Refer students as appropriate for additional services. Research college, career, and financial aid opportunities in order to best inform students and families.

The KIPP Federal Policy Fellowship

Are you interested in interning for a Member of Congress, think tank, or DC-based advocacy organization? The KIPP Federal Policy Fellowship provides alumni with a stipend as well as support for transportation, meals, lodging, and even business attire

Requirements: 

  • Current resume, including their expected year of graduation, major and GPA (3.0 GPA or above required);

  • A KIPP reference and personal reference including their email address and phone number,

  • 3-5-page writing sample previously submitted for a college-level class;

  • Cover letter

Aon is a global risk advisory/consulting/insurance firm. 

​

They are hiring at locations across Texas & the country (relocation fees included). 

2 opportunities:

  • Aon Launch Program - college seniors (begins the summer after students graduate; hired on as full-time employees with 1 year of mentoring and leadership development training)

  • Aon Internship – typically college juniors. Paid. The conversion rate of interns going into the Launch program the following year is 60%, with an 80% acceptance rate.

KIPP Graduate Teaching Fellowship

Rolling

Earn a Master’s of Arts in Teaching and certification! The Graduate Teaching Fellowship is designed to provide aspiring teachers an opportunity and framework to excel within a KIPP classroom. Fellows engage in intensive coursework and deliberate practice through the Relay Graduate School of Education and gradually transition into teaching, while earning a Master’s degree in teaching and Texas teaching certificate. Paired with master teachers during their first year, fellows gradually take on more instructional responsibilities before stepping into the classroom full-time their second year of the program. Fellows are paid during both years of the program and the program value is over $100,000.

Operations Intern

ASAP

The Relay GSE Operations Intern will play an integral role in supporting our faculty and graduate students through the delivery of our academic programming. Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the Operations Intern will provide support in all general operations impacting Relay GSE Houston’s office and academic programming. As a detail-oriented and organized team player, the Operations Intern will be given the opportunity to learn how our efficient and strategic Operations department supports our cutting-edge graduate programs.

​

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary institution

  • Available on Fridays and available on the following Saturdays: 12/7, 2/22, 3/7

  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Proficiency in working with Google Drive (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Sites, Slides, etc.)

  • Ability to react quickly and with good cheer to unexpected situations

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Meticulous organizational skills

  • Commitment to delivering a positive and seamless event experience for participants

  • A demonstrated passion for urban education and closing the opportunity gap

  • Must have a reliable source of transportation

Driver

The Driver transports the KIPP Texas executive team between campuses, to and from various appointments around the city and state. He/she also delivers interdepartmental mail between all KIPP Texas – Houston Campuses, along with assorted deliveries when needed. The Driver also assists the Special Assistant to the CEO with additional projects, as requested.

 

Education and Knowledge:
• High school diploma
• Valid Texas Driver license
• Ability to pass a background check
